Perceptics Launches e-Screen Solution: Rapid-Deploy, Solar-Powered Mobile Platform for Automated Commercial Vehicle and Cargo Screening
KNOXVILLE, TN, May 4, 2026 – Perceptics, the industry leader in automated vehicle identification and screening technology, today announced the commercial launch of the Perceptics e-Screen Solution — a rapidly deployable, self-contained mobile trailer platform that delivers multi-modal commercial vehicle screening in real time, at any location, without dependence on permanent infrastructure or grid power.
The e-Screen Solution is purpose-built for state DOTs, Departments of Public Safety, Highway Patrols, Port Authorities, and large metropolitan enforcement divisions — including agencies operating virtual weigh stations and unstaffed roadside sites where fixed inspection capability is limited or absent. The system captures, processes, and transmits vehicle intelligence in seconds, ready for deployment in hours.
“The e‑Screen Solution delivers key inspection capabilities agencies use at fixed inspection lanes — including LPR, USDOT, and hazmat placard capture — in a trailer‑based system that can be deployed on‑site and operational within hours.”

Integrated Three-Camera Imaging Architecture
At the core of the e-Screen Solution is a three-camera, 8-megapixel imaging array, with each camera dedicated to a discrete screening function and housed in a secure, weather-resistant enclosure on the trailer. The system is powered by the Summitt Suite, capable of running multiple simultaneous screening operations on every passing vehicle:
Summitt DOT™: Optical character recognition captures and reports the USDOT number, KYU number, MC number, and VIN for cross-reference against federal and state commercial vehicle databases.
Summitt Hazmat™: Automated detection and classification of hazardous materials placards on a single vehicle or intermodal container. The system reports Class, Division, and UN number per placard, enabling real-time risk assessment without manual inspection.
Summitt LPR™: High-accuracy automated license plate recognition reporting plate number and issuing jurisdiction. Compatible with existing ALPR databases and law enforcement query systems.
All captured data and images are accessible in real time through the Perceptics Cloud Dashboard via integrated cellular modem. Alternatively, or in parallel, the system can be configured to deliver data directly to the agency’s existing back-end.
Off-Grid Power System and Trailer Specifications
The e-Screen Solution is designed for extended field operations without reliance on grid power or external fuel sources. The integrated power system consists of:
Primary battery bank: 400Ah SLA Battery Bank with options to upgrade to 800Ah or 1200Ah capacity.
Solar assist: 1200W solar array with a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar controller incorporating low-voltage disconnect to prevent overcharging and over-discharging, extending battery cycle life in high-temp deployments.
Shore power backup: System can be charged or operated with 120VAC via a power port on the trailer.
System architecture: steel locking battery compartment with vented battery chamber and dedicated charger/accessories chamber.
The system incorporates a total of three solar panels – one fixed and two that can be deployed independently that would be retracted for transport. With the panels retracted, the trailer platform measures 9.75’ L × 5.7’ W. With both solar panels deployed, the width increases to 10.46’ with retractable corner jacks for stable setup on varied terrain. A lockable removable tongue lighting allow for legal highway towing between deployment sites.
Reporting, Analytics, and Dashboards
Beyond real-time capture, the e-Screen Solution gives agencies an operational view of their deployments through the Summitt Suite’s reporting and analytics layer. Configurable dashboards surface vehicle volumes, hazmat placard distributions, DOT credential exceptions, LPR hit rates, and deployment-level performance metrics. Historical data is retained in the Perceptics cloud back-office to support trend analysis, after-action reporting, and program justification.
System Integration and Data Architecture
The e-Screen Solution is designed to fit into the systems agencies already operate. Captured data can flow through the Perceptics Cloud Dashboard, directly to an agency’s back-end, or both in parallel — no proprietary infrastructure required. An open API layer enables integration with enforcement workflows, dispatch, and weigh-station software, making e-Screen a natural complement to virtual weigh stations and other roadside enforcement infrastructure already in the field.
Availability and Deployment
The Perceptics e-Screen Solution is available now for procurement by qualified law enforcement, transportation, and port security agencies. Perceptics will be demonstrating the platform at upcoming industry events, including the CVSA Annual Conference and Exhibition and select regional commercial vehicle safety forums. Agency representatives and authorized resellers may contact Perceptics directly to request technical specifications, system demonstrations, or procurement information.
