The Perceptics’ founder was a trailblazer in the vehicle recognition field, innovating to institute one of the first license plate recognition companies in the United States. In the 40 years since, we’ve continued to introduce new and improved technology, pushing the boundaries of vehicle recognition technology in a constantly evolving field. At Perceptics, we prioritize delivering high-quality and cost-effective solutions while fostering long-term customer partnerships. Perceptics was first founded by University of Tennessee Professor Dr. Rafael Gonzalez and began License Plate Reader (LPR) development with the U.S. Customs Service
Our first LPR system was ordered by the U.S. Government for use by the U.S. Customs Service, and we launched the 1st generation image processor.
Our first proof of concept LPR installed at a U.S. port of entry at the southern border and 2nd generation image processor was launched.
An LPR patent was granted to Dr. Ralph Gonzalez and Dr. Juan Herrera.
We developed our 3rd-generation image processor (IP940) and installed at all Canada Border Services Agency inbound lanes
We began installation of our LPR systems at all U.S. land border crossings
Installed our first Container Code Reader with 3rd-generation processor for use in port logistics
Installed our first free flow tolling application.
Launched our 4th generation network video processor (NVP), moving the processor into the lane and installed our first container code reader using this processor in Singapore.
1st LPR with 4th-generation image processor installed at a Canadian port of entry.
Launched our 5th generation OCR processor (IVP) which was embedded in the camera enclosure.
Perceptics chosen as the LPR vendor for free-flow outbound traffic to Mexico (both fixed and gantry-mounted systems).
Developed our weigh station and mainline USDOT number reader.
1st installation of LPRs at the most critical primary vehicle inspection lanes for Mexico SAT Aduanas.
Delivered our first back-office OCR server for electronic toll collection and launched our 7th generation image processing platform (G7).
Installed our 7th generation LPR for the Canada Border Services Agency and for U.S. Border Patrol tactical lanes.
Installed the first Pre-Arrival Readiness Evaluation (PARE) system to interface with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) System at Peace Bridge.
Launched our first cloud offering for OCR processing.
Developed our hazmat placard reader technology.
Launched the Summitt Software Suite to provide vendor-agnostic software offerings for LPR, DOT, Hazmat and more.
