KNOXVILLE, TN, July 16, 2024 – Perceptics, a leader in vehicle recognition technology for over 40 years, recently announced the launch of its innovative Summitt Software Suite. This new line of vehicle identification software marks a departure from Perceptics’ traditional hardware-based solutions, unlocking new levels of flexibility for users.

Summitt Software features seven distinct modules that can be configured to meet the needs of each user. Four of these modules are dedicated to vehicle identification: Summitt LPR, Summitt DOT, Summitt Hazmat, and Summitt Container Code. These modules utilize Perceptics’ proven technology for license plate recognition, DOT number recognition, hazmat placard recognition, and container code recognition, respectively.

With the introduction of Summitt Software, Perceptics has also expanded its software to include three new operations modules aimed at streamlining internal processes: Summitt Beacon which monitors device health and performance, Summitt IQ which streamlines invoice QA/QC for electronic tolling, and Summitt Fusion which works in conjunction with other LPR vendors to improve read rates.

“Perceptics has been at the forefront of vehicle recognition technology for decades, but with the diversification of hardware, there are a lot of cameras out there that just need good software,” said Jake Kissel, Perceptics President. “Changes in the industry inspired us to make our tried-and-true vehicle recognition modules more widely available. Summitt is a testament to our commitment to continued innovation.”

A key advantage of the new software line is its compatibility with both Perceptics cameras and existing systems. This flexibility ensures that users can integrate the software into their current setups without the need for extensive modifications or additional hardware, making the transition smooth and cost-effective. The new software-centric approach has added benefits like customized dashboards for select modules and automated updates for cloud deployments.

“Our mission has always been to equip transportation officials with the tools to automate processes in turn saving time, improving performance and enhancing efficiency,” Kissel said. “The market has been responding positively [to Summitt], and we’re seeing strong demands. We are excited to continue enhancing and expanding our software offerings to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

The name Summitt was chosen as a nod to Perceptics’ Knoxville roots, inspired by local icons and the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains. It reflects the company’s deep connection to the region and dedication to reaching new heights in technological innovation and customer service.
